If your gross income is less than €39,500 per year, you may qualify for a healthcare allowance. This is a monthly financial contribution provided by the Dutch government to help make health insurance more affordable. Depending on your income level, this allowance could be as high as €131 per month.
What counts as annual income?
Your gross annual income, also referred to as your yearly salary, includes all the income you earn in a year from work.
To estimate your gross annual income, multiply your gross weekly salary (including allowances) by 52 weeks and add 8.33% for holiday pay. For instance:
- Weekly salary (including allowances): €576.93
- Calculation: €576.93 × 52 weeks = €30,000.36
- Add holiday pay: €30,000.36 + 8.33% = €32,400.38
This total represents your gross annual income. For a more accurate figure, refer to the SV-loon on your payslip.
